Public libraries and coworking spaces seek for means to facilitate peer collaboration, peer inspiration and cross-pollination of skills and creativity. However, social learning, inspiration and collaboration between coworkers do not come naturally. In particular in (semi-) public spaces, the behavioural norm among unacquainted coworkers is to work in individual silos without taking advantage of social learning or collaboration opportunities.

Libraries as Co-working Spaces:

This project aims to inform design strategies for smart space technology to enhance libraries as environments for co-working and informal social learning. The focus is on understanding user motivations, behaviour, and activities in the library when there is no programmed agenda.

Wearable Health: Co-Pulse

The public cultural activities are large-scale events organized by the government or other organizations in order to enrich the civic and cultural life. With the social progress and development, more and more people participate in public cultural activities, which followed by the higher requirements of information services and emotional experience.

The interactive system utilizes Arduino to complete prototype, coordinating with a variety of sensors for data collection, analysis and presentation.

Design study found the relation and difference are significant between the interaction design in multi-user participation in public cultural activities and the only user interaction behavior. In order to make a better design of public services, we summed up the status quo and problems of the interaction of the user information in an outdoor public cultural activities by means of the research and analysis of group behavior, social psychology and such fields of sociology, and provided preliminary solutions to strengthening the group exchange and atmosphere rendering.

Finally, we propose a research direction for the multi-user interactive information system in the future public cultural space.
